Eat Pray Wear Love: Transitioning Your Favorite Summer Floral Maxi Dress Into Fall

Transitioning Your Favorite Summer Floral Maxi Dress Into Fall

Back with another Vici Collection piece today and talking about how to transition your summer maxis to fall. This is probably one of my favorite styling hacks, because it helps you get the most PPW (pay-per-wear) out of your summer dresses.

Take this floral maxi dress, for example. I actually bought it to wear on an upcoming trip to Maui, thinking sandals and tan lines would be the prefect accessories. I ended up pairing this floral maxi dress with a felt hat and my favorite peep toe booties (currently 20% off here!), to help achieve a flawless fall look.

When it comes to transitioning your maxi dresses to fall, those are really my two best suggestions. Simply swap out your sandals for booties, for an effortless autumn ensemble. And, if you want to take your look to the next level, try throwing on a felt hat and autumnal colored bag. Felt hats are one of my favorite ways to accessorize any fall look. Felt is too heavy for summer wear, but pairing it with a lightweight dress adds the perfect contrast for fall. This is an old purchase from LuLu*s, but I just found a super similar wide brim floppy felt hat for only $18 here! It comes in wine (so dreamy for fall) and black.

I know floppy hats can sometimes be *too* floppy and tend to scare people away. If you ever run into that problem, simply grab a can of starch (the kind you use for ironing. Or, at least the kind your mom used for ironing...does anyone really iron anymore, these days?!) and simply spray the brim of the hat with it. Don't be afraid to use a lot, either. I pretty much drench the brim in starch, then usually set it on top of my dryer and let it dry. Once, it's completely dry, you can work the brim to the desired look, you want. It's a life changing hack!

By the way, I mentioned I was heading to Maui in the coming weeks. Would love any suggestions on things to do, places to eat, where to hike, etc. We are also spending two days in Kauai, and would love suggestions for it, also.
