Eat Pray Wear Love: Spring Wedding Guest

Spring Wedding Guest

Wedding season is here, and it's time to decide, once again, what to wear to a Spring wedding. A lot of you have inquired about this before, and for good reason. It's a tricky topic.

When it comes to dressing for a Spring wedding, I really default to two rules. 1. Never, EVER, wear white. (I don't care how many people are doing it now, I still think it's totally taboo.) 2. Don't outshine the bride. -This is her day girl, and the only heads that should be turning, should be looking her direction! (For the record, these rules also apply to any wedding, in my book.)

With so many great dress options at Boohoo, finding a piece that fit both of my criteria for "what to wear to a wedding" was easy.

Other questions I've been asked about the topic:

Is it ok to wear something low-cut? I think so. As long as it's tasteful, that is. For me, since I have been a long standing member of the itty bitty titty committee, I am super comfortable wearing dresses that plunge down to my navel. (D├ęcolletage dresses are my fave right now!) Although, I don't think down-to-your-navel necklines are appropriate for weddings, a little tasteful side boob never hurt anyone. But, if you have breasts comparable to Pam Anderson in her prime...I would keep those babies tucked away. Today is not the day to show them off, honey.

How do I know if there is a dress code? (Black Tie, Casual, etc.) Read the invitation! The invitation will more than likely specifiy if there are certain expectations on what guests wear. If nothing is spelled out, it's safe to assume there is no set standard. However, you can also get a good feel for the tone of the wedding by examining the style of the invitation, as well as the location of the wedding.

Boohoo did a great job of rounding up a ton of wedding guest dresses on their website, and you can check out their list here. I opted for this gray floral number, because it's both subtle and sexy, at the same time. I also highly recommend wearing shoes that you feel comfortable being in for a length of time - and even dancing in! You are going to be at the wedding for at least 4-5 hours, so treat your feet, and consider an option such as these ruffle trim peeptoe sandals that have a chunky heel.
