There’s nothing I love more than a good social gathering and, truth be told, I love playing hostess. Spending time in the kitchen is one of my favorite past times, and there’s no better excuse than a party to whip up a great recipe. In summer, I try to take the party outside as much as possible, but with our backyard being in desperate need of a full on YardCrashers makeover, I decided to take the party to a nearby park.
Taking this party to the park, meant that this hostess could just hang, and that was so nice for a change! I mean really, how often do we spend time away from our guests because we are refilling the punch bowl, or spending time at the grill?
When it comes to outdoor gatherings, preparation is key! An hour spent in the kitchen pre-party can make for a put-together and relaxing party experience. For the picnic in the park, I prepared open-faced caprese sandwiches with pesto spread and heirloom tomatoes. A bowl of grapes served as a tasty and beautiful snack, while my favorite French macaroons satisfied our sweet tooth.
Not a whiskey girl? No problem. I didn’t think I was either, but this totally changed my mind! I served up Wild Turkey American Honey Bourbon with lemonade and garnished it with mint and sliced lemons. All of my guests were blown away at how delicious this drink was. Ever take a sip of a drink and say, “whoa…that’s dangerous”? Yep…that’s how this drink is.
American Honey is the original honey bourbon, made with real honey and real bourbon. Serve up your Summer with American Honey! Follow American Honey at Facebook.com/AmericanHoney

This is too cool Leah! I love the photos. You are quite the hostess! Your blanket and all the serving pieces are perfect. My husband is a whiskey person, but I never personally liked it. I might have to try this.
